Chambers Receives William Hardman Award

NIMS Chairman of the Board, Greg Chambers, was awarded the prestigious National Tooling & Machining Association's (NTMA) William E. Hardman Award for Excellence in Training. The Hardman award is presented to an individual or member company for their efforts in developing and supporting structured training for the precision custom manufacturing industry.

Mr. Chambers is the Environmental, Health and Safety Manager at Oberg Industries, a manufacturer of precision components and tooling since 1948. Over the course of his career, Mr. Chambers has been instrumental in designing and promoting training for the precision custom manufacturing industry, including overseeing Oberg's registered apprenticeship program and health and safety initiatives. He is a national advocate for training and jobs in advanced manufacturing, serving on the Apprenticeshio Roundtable, U. S. Department of Labor Advising Committee on Apprenticeship, and the Pennsylvania Apprenticeship & Training Council. In addition, Mr. Chambers helps to lead the Precision Machining Competition at SkillsUSA National Leadershio and Skills Conference; supports improvements of metalworking training standards as Chairman of the Board at NIMS; and serves on the Education Committee that oversees all safety issues for the annual BotsIQ Southwestern Pennsylvania regional student robotics program.
