Aerospace/Defense Product Development

Oberg is capable of delivering product requiring unique manufacturing solutions including cost and weight reduction benefits through our manufacturing process capabilities. Our work cell environment features a host of in-house machining technologies such as 3-axis milling, 4-axis milling, 5-axis milling, multi-axis milling and turning, Swiss turning, and wire and plunge EDM to provide accurate and quick turnaround of your complex designs. These processes are easily integrated with our precision metal stamping capabilities providing solutions to assist with cost and weight improvements along with reduced delivery time from a single source.

Concurrent Engineering

Our multi-disciplined engineers develop creative solutions to optimize design-for-manufacture. They will collaborate with your design team and work in your facilities when needed to achieve on-going product design and productivity improvements.

Along with our team focus, Oberg's engineers are skilled in Siemens PLM NX and will easily share ideas, best practices, and 3D models of complex structures with our customers. This process minimizes errors and ensures compliance with project requirements.

Unique, Proprietary Grinding Technology

Oberg has developed an advanced form of electrochemical grinding,
Molecular Decomposition Process® (MDP) technology, which provides heat-free, burr-free
grinding of very hard and thin materials. The MDP grinding technology will consistently cut or
grind difficult-to-machine materials 80% faster than conventional grinding and
is capable of producing a surface finish of less than 1 Ra µ.

This technology offers a great potential for cost and weight reduction of your products.

Materials Knowledge

Our craftsmen have experience with aluminum and titanium machining as well as working with a variety of metals, plastics, and exotic alloys such as MP 35N, molybdenum, stainless steel, tungsten carbide, magnesium, Inconel, titanium carbide, beryllium copper, ceramic, peek, acetal, ABS nylon, and nitinol. We will use this materials knowledge and expertise to help you develop new products that will give you a competitive advantage.
